Losing a grandparent

Losing a grandparent is tough, and there’s no one-size-fits-all way to cope. Grief comes in waves, and it’s okay to feel sad, angry, or even numb. Here are a few things that might help:

  1. Let Yourself Grieve – Don’t rush the healing process. It’s okay to cry, reminisce, or even feel a little lost.
  2. Hold Onto Memories – Look through old photos, share stories with family, or even write down your favorite memories to keep their presence alive.
  3. Honor Their Legacy – Whether it’s continuing a tradition they loved, cooking their favorite meal, or doing something in their honor, keeping their spirit alive can be comforting.
  4. Lean on Others – Talk to family and friends who understand your loss. You don’t have to go through it alone.
  5. Take Care of Yourself – Grief can be exhausting. Make sure you’re eating, sleeping, and giving yourself moments of peace.
  6. Find Meaning – Some people find comfort in faith, journaling, or even talking to a counselor.

Time won’t erase the loss, but it will help you learn how to carry it differently.
